Engraving Services Explained

Pewter is the ideal metal for engraving of text or complex designs.
We offer a high quality engraving service - name, initials, inscriptions, coats of arms, cartoons or other detailed line drawings can be added to tankards, goblets and flasks for you prior to despatch. The engraving is done by following lines. For this reason photographs or shaded images are not suitable.
We also have a range of decorations which can be used as surrounds for names, initials or other wording. These choices can be seen and ordered below.
Text engraving can be short or long provided there is sufficient space available - poems can readily be added to tankards for instance. Some examples of Latin and other inscriptions which you might consider are given on the engraving page.
Engraving Charges:
£5 for up to 20 characters engraved per tankard, flask etc, plus 10p per character thereafter.
Engraving a Decoration (see below) £3.75
Engraving a Scottish Can Crest or other larger design £10
Creaing design from customer's artwork £10

Engraving Signs of the Zodiac
Including the recipients Sign of the Zodiac can add a nice touch on a gift to a friend, to which a name or other text can be added. Please click on the link below to view the images used for this. The sign name and dates are not normally included in the engraving.

Text Styles, Fonts and sizes
We show here a range of fonts which can be chosen. The image shows the way in which most lettering is engraved, i.e. taking the outline of each letter, rather than a single stroke which most typed fonts use. (This outline gives an attractive effect which is most visible where larger initials are engraved, for small size engraving the outline merges together.)
When emailing your engraving instructions to us, please give any comments you wish (which may be very specific or generalised ) about the text style or font you would like to have used. e.g. I'd like 'a script style', 'Block letters' 'Please use Algerian font' etc.
If you wish please state your preferences for size of text. Different lines in your engraving can be different sizes.
Engraving can be done quite small if you wish it to be discrete, i.e. only readable on close examination - just request that the text size is 'as small as possible' - this can if you wish be engraved low down on the side of the item being engraved.

Engraving Customers Own Design
To engrave a design already in our engraving library (e.g. Zodiac sign, or Scottish Clan Crest) the charge will be £10 + text charge. If you require your own design engraving, there is also a charge of £10 to create the template - please tick the button below to select this if appropriate. (Templates can be used again for future orders without a further template charge).
Please email or send by post a clear image of the design you wish to have engraved + your choice of text.
It is possible to engrave quite complex and detailed designs/coats of arms/cartoons as long as the image is distinct and made up of clear lines. It is possible to engrave on more than one side of a tankard, flask or goblet.
We reserve the right to quote an alternative charge in the case of highly complex designs. In such cases we will contact the customer before proceeding.
Where text engraving is also required please order with the item, using the 'add engraving' button shown against the pewter item to be ordered.

Engraving is ordered with the pewter item to be engraved, including text and designs. Or if you prefer by simply sending an email to tenigo@btconnect.com describing what you require. (Please quote your order number and name and address in any communication. )
